Amherst faces budget shortfall.

Like many Massachusetts communities, Amherst is struggling to balance the coming fiscal year's budget. The town is facing a projected deficit of $3.3 million. The town manager, Larry Shaffer, unveiled a municipal budget earlier this month that seeks to meet that challenge. He told WFCR's Bob Paquette before a Tuesday, January 30 meeting at Town Hall that several factors made that challenge especially hard this year.
