We spoke with U.S. Representative (D) James McGovern of Worcester, Massachusetts, this week. It was the kickoff conversation in a Morning Edition Extra series of talks with candidates running for Congress  in 2012. McGovern is the Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee. He's represented the state's 3rd district -- which is much of Central and parts of Southeastern Massachusetts -- since 1996. McGovern is running for re-election and if he wins he will inherit parts of retiring congressman John Olver's district, which includes towns in western Massachusetts counties. As of this week McGovern has no confirmed opponent from either party, but he told New England Public Radio's Jill Kaufman, he's not taking it easy.
