Like many illustrators, Ashfield, Massachusetts artist Gayle Kabaker has long dreamed of seeing her work on the cover of New Yorker magazine. Over the years she's submitted ideas, with no success. That is until she stumbled on an online contest in a blog called Blown Covers created by New Yorker art director Francois Mouley and her daughter Nadja Spiegelman. Kabaker's painting of two brides is the cover art on the June 25th issue.  Kabaker says the blog is based on a book Mouley wrote about the great art she'd seen over the years that didn't make it to the cover of the magazine. Kabaker says the first week she entered the contest the theme was reading.
