New England Public Radio will offer plenty of regional and national election coverage in the coming weeks as the country readies to elect its next president and other public officials in November.

On Monday, August 20, New England Public Radio will broadcast the First Congressional District Debate between Congressman Richard Neal, humorist and activist Bill Schein and Berkshire County Register of Deeds, Andrea Nuciforo, hosted by WGBY 57 Public Television for Western New England. The debate will air at 8pm on 88.5FM WFCR*. Jazz a la Mode will begin at 9pm.

New England Public Radio will also broadcast NPR's live special coverage from both national political conventions.  Coverage of the Republican National Convention in Tampa Florida will air nightly from Monday August 27 through Thursday August 30 beginning at 8PM on WFCR.  Coverage of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte North Carolina will air from Tuesday September 4th through Thursday September 6th beginning at 8PM on WFCR. Jazz a la Mode will be preempted by convention coverage.

NPR's convention specials will be hosted from NPR headquarters in Washington, DC. They will feature live podium speeches, expert analysis, interviews with newsmakers, delegates, and NPR reporters and editors from inside the conventions.  In addition to the nightly special coverage, NPR's On Point, heard locally from 10-11am weekdays on AM640 and 91.7FM WNNZ, will broadcast live from both conventions.

New England Public Radio News and NPR will provide on-going, in-depth coverage of regional and national issues during Morning Edition (5-9am on WFCR, 7-9am on AM640 and 91.7FM WNNZ), All Things Considered (4-6:30pm on WFCR and AM640 and 91.7FM WNNZ) and provide special programming during the 2012 election season. New England public Radio will also carry several senatorial, presidential and vice presidential debates through September and October on 88.5FM WFCR.

First Congressional District candidates Bill Schein and Andrea Nuciforo both appeared live on New England Public Radio's Focus: Western New England earlier this summer. Each spoke with host Susan Kaplan about their candidacy and took questions from listeners. Congressman Neal was also invited to appear on Focus: Western New EnglandArchived audio of both shows can be found at NEPR.net, alongside other political news stories and special features from New England Public Radio's newsroom and NPR.
