Event Description

Wendita Chicoine brings summer's fresh air into this dark, cold December with her plein air studies from excursions to beautiful regional sites. Chicoine graduated from The College of William and Mary in 1977 with an undergraduate degree in Studio Art. She has exhibited widely with her painting and stone sculpture. Included in her exhibit history are a local exhibition early in career at Michelson's Gallery and then later at the Anchor House of Artists and the Augusta Savage Gallery at the University of Massachusetts. The artwork in this exhibit focuses on around Northampton city streets and nearby fields and waterways. These works are framed, reasonably priced, ready to go. Her current plans are to continue with her local urban landscapes and find where the experience takes her. Of her sculpture, she notably has located the stone for her work from field ventures around New England and Canada. Although she has taken a hiatus from stone carving due to a shoulder injury right now, some of her stonework is part of the collection at the Anchor House of Artists and can be seen around the other galleries when visitors come to see this show. They are worth seeing, so soft and sensuous. She lives and has a studio here in Northampton, Massachusetts since 1978
