Michael Carolan was born in Kansas City, Missouri. His writing and reporting has been named notable in the Best American Essays series and has received prizes including from the Atlantic Monthly.
Among his credits for fiction, journalism, essay, photography and interviews are the Washington Post, Philadelphia Inquirer, National Public Radio, Kansas City Star, Nashville Review, Springfield Republican and the Massachusetts Review.
He edited The Mass Deportation of Poles to Siberia, a collection of wartime memoirs translated from Polish.
Carolan is a Professor of Practice in the Department of English at Clark University. He lives in Belchertown, Massachusetts, with his wife and children.
