Residents of the Berkshires have rented out rooms in their homes for decades as a way to make extra income. But some innkeepers now say their room rentals are down because of competition from short-term rentals, like those found on Airbnb.

The idea of taxing groceries in Connecticut is meeting with a chilly response. It's uncommon among states in the region.

Connecticut Democratic Governor Ned Lamont is reported to be considering a 2 percent sales tax on groceries and medications, in an effort to reduce the state’s budget deficit. But some business leaders say such a plan would be hard to pass.

Connecticut drivers are the worst. At least when it comes to skipping out on highway tolls in neighboring Massachusetts.
