It's Eddie A. Perez's Turn To Ask For A Second Chance

By turns contrite and defiant, Eddie A. Perez launched a populist campaign for mayor of Hartford on Thursday, attacking the downtown corporations that once backed him and testing the notion of whether Connecticut’s capital is ready to join its largest city, Bridgeport, in returning a corrupt former mayor to City Hall.

Massachusetts state Sen. Don Humason is angling for a new job. The Westfield Republican announced early Thursday that he’s running for mayor.

A state judge has revoked the public pension of former Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez, a year and a half after Perez pleaded guilty to two corruption-related offenses stemming from his time in office.

The embattled mayor of Fall River has survived an attempt to remove him from office, though he now faces a divided city and an indictment by federal prosecutors.

The majority of voters in Tuesday’s election voted to recall Mayor Jasiel Correia, who’s accused of defrauding investors. Then on the same ballot, Correia received the largest number of votes among five candidates running for the seat.

Chicopee, Massachusetts, Mayor Richard Kos said he's not running for re-election. This creates at least the second race for an open mayoral seat in western Mass. this year.
